Staying true to our event’s motto of providing a stage for talents to shine, EOY invites up and coming talents from Asia each year. These artistes put up exclusive performances for EOY audiences, giving them a platform to meet their local fans, inspire local talents and expand their fanbase. Many of these artistes have since gone on to become even more popular in their own countries and in the region.
Guests over the years:
2018: Ola Aphrodite, Riona Hamamatsu, Niji Universe Inc. 2017: Wata, Lilia 2016: That, Miko 2015: Apricot*, Weon Haur, Candi & Sou 2014: Penta, Marisu 2013: Wata 2011: Hitomi @home cafe 2010: Danceroid (Ikura & Aikawa Kozue) 2009: Yui Makino
The main attraction of EOY is the string of non-stop performances featuring anime and J-culture themed songs, dances and instrumentals that keep audiences entertained throughout the entire duration of the event.
Each year, hundreds of youths audition for the opportunity to perform at EOY. These auditions serve to ensure the quality of performances, and create a platform for performers to network and build friendships with fellow performers. Budding talents are identified by the producers, who give them guidance to improve their stage presence, as well as opportunities to get up close to and learn from overseas guest artistes. Many of these performers have honed their confidence and talents at EOY for years, and become regular features of our event and other local art events.
Registrations for auditions are announced on our official Facebook months before the event.
Another major feature of EOY is a shopping street/artist alley of over 100 exhibitors. Majority of them are self-made entrepreneurs and artists who use benefit from EOY as a platform to gain exposure, sales and networking opportunities.
In the past five years, EOY J-Culture Festival has consistently drawn more than 10,000 attendees over two days, making us an attractive event for food vendors and commercial entities to promote products and services related to youths and J culture.
From cosplay cafes to themed photo booths and itasha displays, our unique and fun experience zones, inspired by Japanese elements and culture, enable event-goers to participate in something they would otherwise be hard-pressed to find in Singapore.
Most of these zones are sub-let to external events and teams for a nominal or no fee, offering an opportunity for young entrepreneurs and organisers to experiment with new ideas.
A festive and friendly atmosphere, spacious grounds and a dedicated baggage area make EOY a convenient and conducive platform for cosplayers, subculture fashion enthusiasts and photographers to indulge in their craft and bond over shared interests.
