To all cosplayers and guests of EOY,
All registrations for EOY 2011 are opened from 12th Sept – 17th Oct 2011.
So… why should I register?
Because it’s fun. We’re not looking for professionals, but individuals who have a passion for entertaining people and performing on stages. If it’s always been your dream to play in a band, perform on stage or if you simply want to have a good time entertaining people, EOY’s the stage for you.
Each year, we dedicate our stage time to performers to showcase their talents. In a way, EOY is a talent house, made up of talent individuals like yourself. You see awesome cosplayers, and you also see stellar performances. In a way, we’ve always wanted to make EOY a place where people can express their creative talents and pursue their passions in life.
Though EOY itself is a non-profit event, we do events for commercial entities, mostly in arts venues such as the Esplanade Theatre/Drama Centre. As such, we spend a lot of time planning and running stages, with industry-standard sound and lighting effects. We’re very confident on the quality of our stage productions.
More interestingly, our performers also get listed with us, and also get to perform in paying positions for external productions out of EOY when engaged to run shows.
So…. what kind of performances are we looking for?
Anything that is Japanese subculture (anime, games, fashion) related, that has entertainment value, such as:
Singing
Have a good voice? Solo, duets and groups are all great. Anime or game music are always good choices.
Bands
Musical instrumentals and amps are available for EOY, and bands can register for stage time for performances. Anime, Jpop and other genres of Japanese music are good. Unfortunately, theatre arts venues are normally not very supporting of Jrock music though.
Dances
One of my personal favorites. I hope you enjoyed Aikawa Kozue & Ikura from DANCEROID last year.
Musical / Instrumental
Guitar solo, orchestral, violin, or anything musical in nature. Duets, solos are all great.
Piano
A Yamaha baby grand piano, DC2A is available for EOY for piano related performances. I will be using that as well~ <3
Magical
Magic shows are always entertaining. I think it’ll be awesome if we can see a cosplayer perform some stage magic.
Fashion Runways
We have been doing Lolita fashion runways for 3 years, and we’re open to other fashion runways too.
Hosting / Emcee
Enjoy hosting and public speaking for events? Be EOY’s host/emcees. A small remuneration is provided for good hosts.
Others
Anything else that is entertaining are all considered, to even beat boxing. EOY is very varied and accepting of different kinds of performances, as long as they can be drawn back to Japanese culture.

Perhaps like many of you, it has always been my desire to perform on stage. I picked up piano in the mid of 2010, and performed a simple piece during EOY 2010.
And for this year, I’ll be playing another piano solo again.
So if I can do it, you can do it too.
